4.8 miles, Cheese factory camp site

13 miles, hiawassee

Friday, after a long break at blue mtn, we decided to keep walking on to the cheese factory cano site, we al got settled in and were about to go to sleep when the guys from low gap showed up w/more beer and subway sandwiches. Despite a long day we hung out for a little while before heading to bed. The next morning we hiked up to tray mtn, where I met up with chickadee and honeybee who picked up olive oil for Sierra. The rest of the 13 mile day was lots of 1,000ft up in a mile and the same down, tough on the knees for sure. We got to the shelter 3.5 miles from the road to town and decided to just hike on and hitch a ride in to town. We got a ride from a kid who drove us around till we found a place to stay. The hotel was full but it was beautiful out and only $10 for a tent site with a shower. We went out for a cheap delicious dinner at a Mexican spot, including $4.30 24oz margaritas. Best nights sleep yet. Today was a buffet breakfast and moving into a hotel room for the first zero day of the trip. Laundry and resupply is the plan for the day.

6 days 67 miles, averaging a little over 11 miles a day on some of the tougher terrain of the trail.
